Job Title:                  Volunteer Engagement Officer P2078 (Fixed term contract)

Salary:                      Pro rata of £34,483 up to £37,924 inclusive annual salary for part-time role + up to 19.7% employer pension contribution

Contract:                  3 Year Fixed Term Contract

Post:Part-time (22 hours per week)

Location:                  Flexible working options 

Annual Leave:pro rata of 26.5 days, plus public bank holidays

St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1 the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. St Albans Museums runs several sites including Verulamium Museum, the 15th century Clock Tower and the new St Albans Museum + Gallery, at the heart of the city centre.

Recently, our museum service successfully secured funding from Arts Council England as part of the National Portfolio Organisation programme which is funding this post. 

 

In this role you will co-ordinate and grow volunteer involvement across St Albans Museums through a flexible volunteering model. Working with our Audience Development team, you will review how volunteers are currently involved and devise improvements in line with Arts Council funded NPO activity, including diversifying the volunteer pool and opportunities available to them across the Museum Service.

 

Educated to degree level or with equivalent relevant experience of volunteer management, you must also have an understanding of the voluntary sector and/or volunteering in a cultural setting. Previous experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with local groups to enable the successful delivery of projects is essential for this post. 

 

Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills together with good communication skills is also required. You must also have some knowledge of data collation and analysis to help evaluate projects and producing reports for funders and other stakeholders.
