ApplyAsk a question
We are seeking a Treasurer for our Board and the attached role description offers more detail. The charity works to support people with severe and enduring mental ill health to find and/or retain employment.
What will you be doing?
Employ-Ability is primarily funded through tendering for public sector contracts and has been successful in delivering services in this way for 15 years. Your role will broadly be to provide scrutiny of our general finances and to support the Board and Head of Service with budget and general financial planning and reserves management. Your experience of financial management and monitoring will be critical and your interest in and/or knowledge of mental ill health will be highly relevant.
What are we looking
In addition to the person specification for a trustee, the treasurer should have the following qualities.
- Financial qualifications and experience
- The skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences
- Being prepared to make unpopular recommendations to the board
- A willingness to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis
What difference will you make?
The role of Treasurer is vital in ensuring we continue to be financially viable and that we manage our finances in line with best practice and legal rules. You will also have a critical role in helping the Board and Head of Service plan for the future, whether that be to ensure tenders are financially literate or in support of more general fundraising. Your expertise will help the Board in its decision making to ensure we understand all the financial implications of specific strategic and/or tactical decisions.
Before you apply
You will have an opportunity to discuss your interest with the Chair and other Board officers. We would normally ask for an enrolment form to be completed but will not ask for any duplication of information.
