Here in Swindon our Children’s Service is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and we are proud that our Youth Justice Service has just received an outstanding outcome at their recent Inspection too. We are committed to ensuring that all our children reach their full potential
We have a clear vision and plans to reduce the need for Children to come into our care with our new adolescent offer and edge of care work and we are continually working as a partnership to ensure or children are safe.
About us
We are really excited to be seeking a Service Manager in Swindon that will oversee the newly implemented family safeguarding model.
This service works with families following assessment, where longer term support is required. This can include where children are considered to be in need or subject to child protection processes. The service works with families to support children remaining at home in the community however where this is not possible the teams also work with children becoming subject to pre-proceedings and court proceedings.
The service provides support via a new Family Safeguarding model that is a strength based approach involving the use of motivational interviewing. Teams are also multi-disciplinary and include social workers, family support practitioners, and adult specialist workers. The adult specialist workers have a specific focus on supporting parents/carers experiencing complex issues of domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse.
The teams within the service have monthly group supervision and undertake their recording in a workbook. Interventions are focused around a Family Programme which has seven modules – this enables us to work in a purposeful and transparent manner.
About you
Your aspirations should be limitless and you will be as determined and passionate about meeting the needs of children, young adults, and their families – whether birth, fostering or adoptive family – as we are.
In Swindon, we operate the family safeguarding framework with the pioneers of the model from Hertfordshire supporting its implementation, we seek to work with families not to them, so if you are of the same mindset, are child focused, innovative in your approach and looking to make a real difference to children’s lives we would really like to meet you.
If you are a dynamic individual with leadership qualities who shares this vision we want to hear from you. You may already have experience as a Service Manager or you may be stepping into this new level and want to use your experience to develop this service.
Candidates must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the effective performance of a customer-facing role).
Our offer to you:
- Relocation allowance of up to £8,000 (eligibility criteria applies)
- Competitive salaries
- A career average revalued earnings (CARE) pension scheme
- 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays) rising to 31 days after 10 years’ service
- Free car parking at our central Swindon campus and easy commuter links to many locations
