Job overview

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Theatre Support Worker to develop as a Senior Theatre Support Worker in Constable Theatres at Colchester.  This position is ideal for an individual who is passionate and committed to delivering high-quality patient focused care.

We are seeking applicants who have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills and the desire to achieve and share in our vision.
At Colchester, our theatre suites comprise of 17 days case and inpatient theatres.  Constable Theatres have patients for elective orthopaedics, orthopaedic trauma, gynaecology and breast surgery. There will be opportunity to gain skills in other specialties by rotating internally to the other theatre suites.

Main duties of the job

You will support the patients throughout their theatre journey, working within the theatre teams to ensure that the patient experience is positive, safe, quality focused and individualised.  

You will have the opportunity to lead a team of knowledgeable and skilled theatre support workers and support them in their individual development. Also as working alongside with theatre orthopaedic coordinator and procurement team.

You will also develop your skills in maintaining and overseeing the ordering and receipting of stock levels within the theatre departments and support with consumable budget.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide patient care and act as a support member of the team under the supervision of qualified members of staff.

To contribute towards maintaining stock levels and equipment within the theatre and the department

To provide support to a multi-skilled team of varying levels of expertise in a variety of specialties including in emergency/trauma situations

Essential criteria

Previous proven experience of working in operating theatres within difference specialties, including 24 hour provision of care

Qualifications

Essential criteria

NVQ Level 2 in either Operating Department Support or General Healthcare OR equivalent experience
