The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.8 million objects, books and archives that span 5,000 years of human creativity. The V&A enriches people’s lives by promoting research, knowledge and enjoyment of the designed world to the widest possible audience. The V&A comprises the main site at South Kensington, Young V&A in Bethnal Green (opening summer 2023), V&A Wedgwood Collection, V&A Dundee and V&A East, a new museum and collections storage facility, due to open in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford by 2025.
The Development Department is critical in enabling the V&A to realise its ambitions through raising funds for FuturePlan, the V&A’s extensive programme of capital redevelopment, alongside support for acquisitions, exhibitions, conservation and learning programmes.
Main Purpose of job
Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, the post-holder will have two line reports and support the strategic priorities within the Development Department by identifying, cultivating and stewarding major gifts towards the V&A’s capital, acquisitions, exhibitions, learning and endowment fundraising activities. The ideal candidate will be a highly organised and outstanding interpersonal communicator with excellent written ability, attention to detail and a strong strategic outlook with a proven track record of securing donations from a range of donors.
