Planning / Senior Planning Compliance Officer (Dependent on Experience) – Cambourne, Cambridgeshire

Planning / Senior Planning Compliance Officer (Dependent on Experience)

South Cambridgeshire Hall

Cambourne, Cambridgeshire

As an organisation we believe that our people are our greatest assets. We know how important it is to find a job where you feel valued, but also have the flexibility to allow you to balance your work / family commitments in an organisation that offers a competitive benefits package.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Greater Cambridge Planning Compliance Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Planning Compliance Officer or Senior Planning Compliance Officer (depending on experience) to investigate breaches of planning control and undertake the necessary action to ensure compliance with planning legislation.

You need to be a team player, self-motivated, an organised person and be calm under pressure. Duties will include assisting with the investigation of alleged breaches and offences, preparation of enforcement notices and files for prosecution, and attending court. There are opportunities to get involved in appeal work and related planning applications. Greater Cambridge has a number of listed buildings, conservation areas and a mixture of rural and urban areas, so the work is varied and exciting.

We operate a hybrid working policy, where teams determine their own working arrangements to fit their individual and team needs. Within the Planning team we are primarily working from home, with an expectation to attend in person at weekly team meetings, occasional additional meetings and training, as required.

From January 2023 until May 2023 we are taking part in a four-day working week trial. A four-day week is when full-time staff work one less day per week (four days instead of five) but still get paid the same salary. It is not the same as compressed hours, which is working the traditional 37-hour week over four long days. A four-day week for a full-time employee at the Council will consist of 30 hours. For part time staff, the amount of hours reduced would be calculated via a pro-rata reduction. A helpful way of explaining this arrangement is that staff will need to get 100% of their work done, in 80% of the time, for 100% of their salary. The purpose of this trial is to better support the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, while still delivering an excellent service to our residents.
