Digital Assistant
The National Museum Directors’ Council
London
The Horniman Museum and Gardens is a unique attraction in south east London where world cultures and the natural world are brought together for everyone to enjoy. The Museum holds internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as a popular natural history gallery and Aquarium. The 16 acres of beautiful Gardens feature a tropical Butterfly House and offer stunning views across London.
We are looking for a Digital Assistant to have day-to-day responsibility for the Horniman’s website, intranet and social media. You will generate or edit much of our day to day content (written, imagery, video, audio) in line with our campaign and plans, support and contribute to digital media activities, as well as provide database administration support across the Communications & Income Generation team. It is an exciting time to join the team, as we will embark on a major Nature + Love project, as well as other projects focused on the tea trade and colonial legacy over the next few years.
You will be a good digital all-rounder with exceptional knowledge of digital and social media platforms, an interest in digital developments and be passionate about creating fun, interesting content. You will have experience of working with content management systems and using a variety of social media platforms in a business context, as well as generating content. At ease producing short form video (like reels) and comfortable with meme and internet cultures.
The closing date for completed applications is 10am on Monday 27 March 2023. Interviews will be held on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 April 2023. The Horniman is committed to equality of opportunity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
The Horniman is an equal opportunities employer and we value and celebrate diversity. We want to better represent the communities in which we work but recognise that there is still much work to do in this area. We welcome and encourage all applicants and particularly encourage you to apply if you are from a community that is often disadvantaged by society or of ethnically diverse background.
