Job Description
We require a strong and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work on a day to day basis across a number of secondary schools in the Barnsley area.
This Cover Supervisor role is suitable For: NQT’s, training teachers, retired teachers/TA’s, those unable to work full time, people needing flexible working hours, those wanting to network/gain exposure with new schools. School Details:
The schools within these areas are considerably different, covering several social and economic demographics and Ofsted gradings.
Cover Supervisor Job Role:
As a Cover Supervisor you will be expected to take full responsibility for managing classes in any given subject area (where possible you will be matched with subject areas that you already have experience in). You will be expected to effectively manage behavior and to ensure pupil safety. Candidates will also be expected to leave the classroom in order and to leave a lesson summary for the returning teacher. The lesson will already be planned by the class teacher and you deliver the lesson to the class. Some of these schools may cater for students with Special Educational Needs and challenging behaviors, so it would be great if you had experience in these types of settings, or would be willing to get involved.
Candidate Requirements for Cover Supervisor: To be selected to work as a cover supervisor you should have classroom based experience. This could be TA, LSA, Support Assistant, Teacher etc. Resilience and patience are crucial as well as the ability to quickly learn and understand school procedures such as behavior and safeguarding. Candidates will need to have presence in the classroom and the ability to demonstrate authority whilst remaining calm and approachable.
