Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in cardiothoracic imaging at Addenbrooke’s Hospital part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH).

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Radiologist to join our Radiology team of Consultants, both NHS and University based, and Specialty Registrars.

We have a close working relationship with all clinical specialties including Urology, Oncology, GI, Surgery, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Transplant, Gynaecology, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Paediatric departments, and are actively involved in multidisciplinary clinical, research and educational activities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a strong multidisciplinary team and provide specialist and general support to the workload of the department. The department is well equipped with state-of-the-art machines including: 5 Siemens CT scanners, 1 PET-CT scanner, 1 PET-MRI, 6 GE MRI scanners, an ultrasound suite with 10 Toshiba US machines, 3 interventional radiology suites and a Radiology Day Unit with 8 beds. A new PACS was installed on January 2019. The Epic eHospital system went live in October 2014.

The Imaging Directorate is ISAS (QSI) accredited and the Trust is a Major Cancer Centre and a Major Trauma Centre.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Radiology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full-time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

As part of our commitment to supporting the medical workforce in the part they play in delivering an excellent caring service to patients, all newly appointed Consultants attend our five-day Consultant Development programme within a year of joining the Trust. Leadership is a key requirement of doctors’ professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
