Job overview

We are looking for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to work in our Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

During the last few years the Older Adults Specialist Mental Health Services in Buckinghamshire provides enhanced services and extended hours of operation during the evenings, at weekends and during the core working hours Monday to Friday.

Main duties of the job

The Older Adults CMHT provides a range of services including Memory Clinics, Assessment, Crisis Intervention and enhanced duty responses plus step up and step down increased support with a focus on prevention of admission. Our Memory Services are accredited as excellent as part of a national accreditation programme in conjunction with the Royal College of Psychiatry. We operate an innovative model of assessment for our clinics with the aim of providing timely assessment and diagnosis following the first appointment and clinics closer to the persons home.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be given the opportunity to work in all aspects of the team including the Memory Services. Do you have excellent skills in working with older people with mental health problems? Are you an enthusiastic and resourceful person who is able to work independently and with initiative?

  • New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
  • Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
  • Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
