Salary: £26,700 – £34,700

Location:Cambridge, UK with hybrid working (minimum 1 day in the office)

If you have answered yes to the above questions, we would love to hear from you as we are seeking an enthusiastic Associate Development Editor to join the Higher Education team within Academic.

About the role

This role involves developing Higher Education textbooks in both STM and Humanities subjects, and publishing in all regions focusing on Europe and the Americas. The position is based in our Cambridge, UK office and reports to a Managing Editor. 

We are a leading provider of teaching and learning resources that are used around the world. This role offers an exciting opportunity to help drive the success of our Higher Education publishing program. You will work on a wide range of projects, both first editions and new editions, across disciplines from Science, Technology, and Maths (STM) and Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS).

About you

You will have experience in publishing—textbook experience, online supplementary material and/or STM experience is a plus. To be successful in this role, you will have excellent line editing skills and familiarity with structural editing as well as well the ability to look at a manuscript creatively and critically. Additionally, you will have:

  • Experience in market research and analysing market trends in textbook conventions and features
  • You will have very strong project management experience, with the ability to juggle many tasks for many projects at different stages.
  • You will be an excellent and authoritative communicator, both in speaking and writing.
