Aberdeen Internship – School Support Assistant
The Aberdeen Internship Programme has operated successfully since 2011. The initiative offers students the opportunity to contribute to defined projects or activities within the University during the summer vacation, within a supervised and supportive environment which helps develop transferrable skills for future work or study.
Aberdeen Internships will offer students who expect to graduate in 2024 or 2025 the opportunity to contribute to defined projects or activities within the University allowing them to enhance their employability skills.
Projects will comprise of 36.5 hours per week for a 10-week period, starting on June 5th, 2023, and concluding on August 11th, 2023. (Flexibility regarding start date will be considered on case-by-case basis).

In order to ensure that all academic staff have appropriate workloads, there is a requirement to collect and collate workload data across the School. This will provide a clear picture of the commitments of colleagues which will enable decisions to be taken regarding the future allocation of work and to try to spot areas where workload might be reduced. Over the course of the time in the School, the post holder will paint develop an overview of all of the teaching information as well as other roles that staff are involved in such as admin, PGR supervision and the management external grant funding.
Ideally the candidate will be someone with a proven ability to work with Microsoft Excel. They will have to be patient and both able to work for periods on their own, inputting data and also work extensively with others to collect the various pieces of information.
The candidate will have to be confident in approaching colleagues from across the School to request, and sometimes query information. There will be guidance and support provided but this task will primarily be undertaken by the role holder.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 2, £21,134 per annum.
