The Aberdeen Internship Programme has operated successfully since 2011. The initiative offers students the opportunity to contribute to defined projects or activities within the University during the summer vacation, within a supervised and supportive environment which helps develop transferrable skills for future work or study.
Aberdeen Internships will offer students who expect to graduate in 2024or 2025the opportunity to contribute to defined projects or activities within the University allowing them to enhance their employability skills.
Projects will comprise of 36.5 hours per week for a 10-week period, starting on June 5th, 2023, and concluding on August 11th, 2023. (Flexibility regarding start date will be considered on case-by-case basis).

Do you have good botanical identification skills? Are you interested in building your professional ecological habitat surveying experience? Do you want to be part of making our campus a greener, nature-positive place?
The University of Aberdeen Estates and Facilities Directorate is seeking to appoint a summer intern to carry out comprehensive ecological mapping of our grounds and greenspaces. This work forms an important part of our Aberdeen 2040 commitments to sustainability and will help shape the development of a new Biodiversity Policy and Action Plan for the university.
The candidate will have botanical knowledge and field identification skills, ideally with some experience or awareness of ecological habitat mapping and GIS mapping techniques. Alongside office-based tasks and desk-research, the candidate will be expected to spend a significant proportion of their time outdoors physically surveying and systematically mapping our grounds and greenspaces.
While much of the work will be based in Aberdeen there is scope for travel to outlying sites.
The post will involve extensive outdoor work on a variety of terrains and a willingness to work in a variety of weathers. Any appropriate equipment required for health and safety purposes will be supplied by the University.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 2, £21,134 per annum.
